As many of you know, Haiti has been in a peak state of emergency since 2021. In the last few months — violent gangs have taken control of the country. Prices of basic goods like food and gas have skyrocketed by 60%, and the country has been plagued with fuel shortage. Daily crimes and kidnappings have caused schools, businesses, and many hospitals to shut down for months. Many Haitians have moved to the Dominican Republic in search of safety only to be met with racism and violence. Our people are in crisis and it's breaking our hearts.

As a proud Haitian-owned business that sources key ingredients from Haiti, we have not talked much about the challenges. We are not hiding the problems, but want to protect our on-the-ground team. We also don't want to add to the litany of negative highlights on Haiti that the press routinely focuses on. However, the situation in Haiti is the worst we have seen in our, and our parents and grandparents' lifetime.

We believe strongly in creating long term jobs to solve challenges instead of donations, however this Giving Tuesday we will be donating proceeds from our Holiday sales to a few reputable nonprofit organizations doing arduous work to protect women and children.
