On Jan.12th 2010 a 7.0 earthquake in Haiti killed 300,000 people and left thousands homeless and injured.

Stephane Jean Baptiste , my co-founder and life partner remembers the day well. His sister, Leila, went to tutoring at 4:30pm with her friends. At 4:53 the earthquake hit.

After his mom gained composure she headed towards the tutoring area in Fontamara to find his sister.  His mom begged folks to help find Leila. Some had found their children dead and were wailing in pain. Those who found there kids hugged them and wanted to run somewhere that felt safe. They were in no position to help her.

Stephane’s mom knew she could not do this alone. She gathered several young men from the near by car wash in Fontamara and said- I know my daughter is somewhere in their alive. I can feel her.
